- 1 sheet store-bought puff pastry
- 4 oz cream cheese (or dairy-free alternative)
- 2 tbsp white sugar (or powdered sugar)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup diced strawberries
- 1 large egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp cold water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and optional food coloring until smooth. Gently fold in the diced strawberries.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into heart shapes.
- Place half of each heart on the prepared baking sheet. Spoon filling into the centers and cover with another heart cut-out, sealing edges by pressing down with a fork.
- Brush the tops with an egg wash made from whisked egg and cold water.
- Bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
