Ingredients
- 3 cups fresh strawberries (sliced)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp cornstarch (mixed with water)
Instructions
- Wash and slice the strawberries.
- In a saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, and optional lemon zest; heat over medium until bubbling.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes while stirring occasionally.
- Mix cornstarch with water until smooth; add to the strawberry mixture while stirring continuously.
- Continue cooking until thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon.
- Cool completely before using or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days.
