  • zest from 1/2 lemon (optional)
  • 1/2 tablespoon (7 milliliters) freshly squeezed lemon juice (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 2 cups (473 milliliters) cold milk

Instructions

  1. Hull and chop 6 ounces of strawberries, mash them in a bowl, then mix in sugar and optional lemon ingredients.
  2. Cook this mixture in a small pot over medium-low heat for 2-5 minutes until syrupy.
  3. Cool the syrup and store it in an airtight container.
