Ingredients
- 1 pound lean minced beef
- 1/2 medium diced onion
- 3-4 minced garlic cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon mixed Italian herbs
- 1 cup dry orzo pasta
- 1 can (14 ounces) tomato sauce
- 3/4 cup beef stock
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, freshly grated
- 2 cups tightly packed fresh spinach leaves
- Salt and pepper (as needed)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the minced beef until cooked through. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add diced onion and minced garlic; sauté until the onion is translucent. Stir in red pepper flakes if desired.
- Mix in Italian herbs, orzo pasta, tomato sauce, beef stock, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 10-12 minutes until the orzo is al dente.
- Stir in heavy cream and fresh spinach; cook until the spinach wilts.
- Remove from heat and mix in grated parmesan cheese before serving.
