Ingredients
- 2 cups apples (cored, peeled, and chopped)
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 14 tablespoons unsalted butter (cut into pieces)
- 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add chopped apples, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, water, and salt. Cook for about 5 minutes until apples soften slightly.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Blend in pieces of room temperature butter until crumbly.
- Press half of the oat mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan. Spread the apple filling evenly over it and crumble the remaining oat mixture on top.
- Bake for about 50 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
