Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups sugar

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the strawberries, water, and sugar.
  2. Stir gently while smashing the strawberries with a wooden spoon to release their juices.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil until the sugar completely dissolves.
  4. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 20 minutes until it turns deep red.
  5. Remove from heat and strain through a fine mesh strainer into another container without pressing the berries.
  6. Allow to cool completely before transferring to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator.
