Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh strawberries (cleaned, hulled, and chopped)
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups sugar
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the strawberries, water, and sugar.
- Stir gently while smashing the strawberries with a wooden spoon to release their juices.
- Bring the mixture to a boil until the sugar completely dissolves.
- Reduce heat and let it simmer for 20 minutes until it turns deep red.
- Remove from heat and strain through a fine mesh strainer into another container without pressing the berries.
- Allow to cool completely before transferring to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator.
