- 1 cup warm milk
- 1 tbsp instant dry yeast
- 4 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar (for dough)
- 1 large egg
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter (softened for dough)
- 1 ¾ cups fresh or frozen strawberries
- ¼ cup granulated sugar (for filling)
- Juice of half a lemon
- ½ cup cream cheese (softened, for glaze)
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter (softened, for glaze)
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp strawberry puree (from filling)
Instructions
- Prepare the strawberry filling by cooking strawberries with lemon juice and sugar until thickened. Blend until smooth and cool.
- For the dough, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a stand mixer. Add warm milk, butter, and egg; knead until smooth. Let rise until doubled.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread cooled strawberry filling evenly over it and roll tightly into a log.
- Cut into 12 rolls and place in a greased baking dish. Let rise again until puffy.
- Bake at 350°F for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- For the glaze, beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and cold strawberry puree together until smooth.
- Drizzle glaze over warm rolls before serving.
