Ingredients
- 12 fresh Fuji apples
- 2 cups water
- 1 to 2 tablespoons pastured butter
- Pinch of ground cinnamon
- Pinch of ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Peel and cut the Fuji apples into chunks.
- In a large pot, combine the prepared apples with 2 cups of water.
- Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, then reduce heat to low and cover.
- Cook for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally until the apples darken and become caramelized.
- Break up any large chunks with the back of your spoon until thick and smooth.
- Serve warm, topped with a dollop of butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon and nutmeg.
