- 4 cups all-purpose flour

- 1/2 cup whole milk, warm
- 1/2 cup water, warm
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 large egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, warm water, yeast, and sugar; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture; mix until a dough forms.
- Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Shape into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for 1 hour.
- Prepare the butter block by shaping cold butter into a rectangle; chill for an additional 30 minutes.
- Roll out chilled dough into a rectangle; place the butter block in the center and fold over to seal.
- Roll out again into a rectangle and fold like a letter; repeat chilling and folding two more times.
- Shape the dough into triangles and roll from base to tip to form croissants.
- Let rise on a baking sheet for about 1 hour until puffy.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Brush with egg wash before baking for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
