- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 cup butter
- Saltine crackers (enough to cover the baking pan)
- 12 oz chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with aluminum foil and arrange a single layer of saltine crackers on the bottom.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine butter and dark brown sugar. Stir constantly until it reaches a rolling boil; let it boil for 3 minutes while stirring continuously.
- Pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the saltine crackers and spread gently with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 7 minutes or until bubbly.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee layer; wait a minute for them to melt.
- Spread melted chocolate evenly using a spatula and add any desired toppings.
- Refrigerate until fully cooled, then break into pieces.
